Guwahati, 13 December (HS): At least eight illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators were pushed back across the international border on Friday night. Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma shared on social asserting that while India believes in the philosophy of “Atithi Devo Bhavah”, it will not compromise on national security.
In a post, the Chief Minister remarked that “people across the border seemed to have taken our philosophy of Atithi Devo Bhavah too seriously,” adding that such hospitality should not be mistaken for weakness.
Dr Sarma further invoked a Sanskrit verse to underline the state’s approach, stating that a wise and resolute authority does not invite conflict unnecessarily but acts decisively when the time demands.
The Chief Minister confirmed that the eight illegal entrants were identified and pushed back, reiterating the Assam government’s firm stand against illegal infiltration and its commitment to safeguarding the state’s borders.
