South 24 Parganas, 18 August (H.S.): Panic gripped Tangarberia area under Baruipur Police Station in South 24 Parganas district after a bomb was found lying by the roadside early Tuesday morning.

The incident took place near Booth No. 83 along the Kalabaru–Ghutiyari Sharif Road. Local residents spotted what appeared to be a live bomb lying beside the road and immediately alerted the police.

On receiving the information, personnel from Baruipur Police Station reached the spot and recovered the bomb. The area was secured as a precautionary measure.

It is yet to be ascertained who placed the bomb at the location or why it was kept there. The police have launched an investigation and are examining the nature of the recovered explosive and whether it is linked to any criminal activity.

The recovery triggered temporary panic among residents in the area.
