- Over 5,000 Participate in Yatra Led by CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and BJP Assam President Dilip Saikia

Guwahati, 14 August (HS): A grand ‘Tiranga Yatra’ was organised in Guwahati on Friday o commemorate the spirit of freedom, national unity and sovereignty, with more than 5,000 people participating in the procession.

The Yatra began at the Jyoti-Bishnu Auditorium and proceeded towards Khanapara. It was led by Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and BJP Assam Pradesh President Dilip Saikia. Participants carried the national flag and raised slogans such as “Vande Mataram” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”, creating a strong atmosphere of patriotism.

The organisers said the Yatra was aimed at remembering the sacrifices of India’s freedom fighters and strengthening patriotism, national consciousness and the spirit of unity among the younger generation.

BJP Assam Pradesh spokesperson Jayanta Kumar Goswami said the Tricolour represents the nation’s pride, dignity, freedom and unity. He said India, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, is moving towards development, self-reliance and a stronger position globally.

Goswami also highlighted what he described as Assam’s progress in development, peace and social harmony under Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. He said the large participation in the Tiranga Yatra reflected the strong sense of patriotism and national consciousness among the people of Assam.

The BJP appealed to people across all sections of society to work together to protect the country’s unity, integrity, brotherhood and social harmony.-----------
