Imphal, 10 August (HS): Security forces arrested three suspected insurgent cadres in separate operations in Manipur, officials said.

On August 9, security forces arrested an active cadre of the Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF)/People’s Liberation Army (PLA), identified as Thounaojam Ibochouba Meitei alias Lamta (56), from Eco Park Road near Nongjubi Changpham under Kakching Police Station in Kakching district. He is a resident of Elangkhanpokpi Mamang Leikai and currently resides at Kakching Makha Leikai.

In another case, following investigation into an FIR registered at Jiribam Police Station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, Rohim Mia (31) of Shashani in Malda district, West Bengal, was arrested from Malda on August 6 by a team of Jiribam Police Station. After completing the required formalities, he was brought to Jiribam Police Station on Monday for further interrogation.

Meanwhile, security forces on August 9 arrested Konsam Sanatomba (44), an active member of the UNLF (Koireng), from Lamlong in Imphal East. He was allegedly involved in extortion activities, including threatening a non-Manipuri resident of Telepati with live ammunition to enforce a monetary demand.---------
