Mysuru/New Delhi, 01 August (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Mysuru on Saturday and conducted a grand roadshow before inaugurating the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Centre and Viveka Smaraka, a landmark memorial dedicated to the life, teachings, and legacy of Swami Vivekananda. The visit underscored the government's emphasis on preserving India's cultural heritage and inspiring young people through the ideals of one of the country's greatest spiritual leaders.

The Prime Minister was received by Karnataka Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot, Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar, Mysuru district in-charge Minister Dr. S. Yathindra, and other senior officials. Large crowds gathered along the route to welcome the Prime Minister during the roadshow before he reached the inauguration venue.

The Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Centre and Viveka Smaraka have been developed by the Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama at the site associated with Swami Vivekananda's stay in Mysuru during his historic journey across India. The centre has been established as a hub for cultural, educational, and youth development activities, with a focus on promoting leadership, character building, spiritual values, and national service inspired by Vivekananda's philosophy.

Addressing the gathering after the inauguration, Prime Minister Modi highlighted Swami Vivekananda's enduring message of national awakening, self-confidence, and service to humanity. He said the ideals of Vivekananda continue to guide India's youth and remain relevant in the country's journey towards development and nation-building.

The event was attended by senior monks of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission, public representatives, government officials, and a large number of devotees and citizens. Cultural programmes reflecting India's spiritual heritage were also organised as part of the celebrations.

The newly inaugurated Viveka Smaraka is expected to emerge as an important centre for learning, research, cultural activities, and youth engagement, while further strengthening Mysuru's reputation as a city with a rich spiritual and cultural legacy.
