New Delhi, 01 August (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva–Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’ through video conferencing on Sunday. The initiative aims to encourage young people to stay away from substance abuse and prepare them to become ambassadors of positive social change.

According to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), the launch of the campaign will mark the beginning of a nationwide 100-week ‘Jan Bhagidari Abhiyan’ against drug abuse. Under the initiative, awareness and public participation programmes will be organised every Sunday across the country to strengthen the fight against substance abuse.

A wide range of activities, including sports competitions, walkathons, meditation sessions, cultural programmes, awareness campaigns, street plays, discussions, art competitions, and community engagement events, will be organised as part of the campaign. These activities are intended to raise awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and encourage active public participation in building a drug-free society.

The initiative seeks to bring together educational institutions, youth organisations, civil society groups, industry bodies, and spiritual organisations on a common platform to transform the campaign against substance abuse into a nationwide people's movement.

The programme will witness the participation of young people from more than 10,000 locations across the country. Volunteers from MY Bharat, the National Service Scheme (NSS), youth clubs, schools, colleges, universities, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), youth wings of industry associations, and representatives of more than 125 partner spiritual organisations will join the event virtually.
