Lucknow, 27 July (HS): Will the Samajwadi Party remain in

alliance with the Congress in the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections? This

question has been raging in recent times. Senior Congress leader and Saharanpur

MP Imran Masood had said that the party was preparing for 403 seats on the

issue of alliance. Meanwhile, Akhilesh Yadav had earlier expressed his

displeasure over the statements of UP Congress leaders during the INDI alliance

meeting held in Delhi. Amidst all this political rhetoric, Akhilesh Yadav gave

a big hint regarding the alliance on Monday. He said that our alliance was in

the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. We are together in the Lok Sabha. However, he did

not reveal his cards regarding the alliance for the 2027 Assembly elections. He

said that the Assembly elections are still far away.

What did Akhilesh Yadav say? Akhilesh Yadav did not openly

respond to media questions about an alliance with the Congress. Samajwadi Party

President Akhilesh Yadav indicated that no seat-sharing agreement has yet been

reached with the Congress. In fact, after its strong performance in the 2024

Lok Sabha elections, the Congress is talking about contesting more seats.

Meanwhile, the Samajwadi Party has consistently urged the Congress to field

winning candidates rather than seat shearing. Consequently, coordination

between the two parties is failing.

Akhilesh Yadav didn't speak openly about the alliance.

However, he did say that we (SP-Congress) are together in the Lok Sabha. He

added that we have consistently advocated for the PDA's support and the

establishment of social justice. We are continuing on that path. The assembly

elections are still far away. We are together in the Lok Sabha.

Why did this statement come? Even though Akhilesh Yadav is

talking about the assembly elections being far away, both parties' election

preparations have intensified. Congress leaders have consistently issued

aggressive statements. Now, Akhilesh Yadav has created a different atmosphere

by talking about coming together in the Lok Sabha. This is expected to deepen

the political controversy. Some political analysts are suggesting that Akhilesh

Yadav may also follow Mulayam Singh Yadav's strategy of being together at the

center and distant in the state.

Till now we were talking together: Akhilesh Yadav decided to

form an alliance with Congress for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Previously, he

had formed an alliance with smaller parties in the 2022 UP elections, but they

failed to achieve the same level of success. The party managed only 111 seats.

Consequently, after forming an alliance with Congress, the Samajwadi Party

achieved historic success in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. This election was

the party's best in terms of numbers and vote share. The party captured 37 Lok

Sabha seats. Congress also won six seats. Since then, Akhilesh Yadav has

consistently discussed the possibility of an alliance with Congress.

The SP president has maintained his alliance with the

Congress on numerous public platforms. Recently, during an interview, Akhilesh

Yadav openly spoke about an alliance modeled after the 2024 Lok Sabha

elections. Now, nearly six to seven months before the assembly elections, Akhilesh

Yadav has remained silent on the alliance. He sidestepped the question, citing

the elections as a distant future. This is being seen as a signal to Congress

leaders who have consistently been creating a wave of opposition to the

Samajwadi Party.
