New Delhi, 27 July (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday highlighted the importance of good character in society by sharing a Sanskrit Subhashitam on social media platform X. He said that a person of noble character not only earns respect in society but is also regarded as worthy of fulfilling every responsibility. The Prime Minister described good character as the true foundation of lasting success, effective leadership and enduring trust.

The Sanskrit verse shared by the Prime Minister reads:

Śīlavān pūjito loke śīlavān sādhusammataḥ।

Śīlavān sarvakarmārhaḥ śīlavān priyadarśanaḥ॥

Explaining its meaning, Prime Minister Modi said that a person of good character earns respect in society and the admiration of virtuous people. According to him, qualities such as honesty, humility and disciplined conduct make an individual capable of discharging every responsibility with integrity and dedication.

He further said that individuals with exemplary character possess an inspiring personality, and their conduct naturally becomes a model for others to emulate. The Prime Minister emphasised that good character is the strongest foundation for enduring success, effective leadership and long-term trust.
