New Delhi, 27 July (H.S.):

The government will introduce the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, also known as the Anti-Paper Leak Bill, in the Lok Sabha on Monday to take strict action against cheating and paper leaks in public examinations. The proposed legislation includes stringent legal provisions to deal with cases of examination fraud and question paper leaks.

Ahead of the introduction of the Bill, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju described the day as significant for the country. Speaking to the media, Rijiju said that after several incidents of paper leaks and the recent student protests, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had taken several important steps and made key announcements. He said that a concrete law in the same direction was now being brought before Parliament.

Rijiju appealed to all political parties to participate in the discussion on the important legislation. He said that since the government was bringing a strong law against examination paper leaks, all parties should engage in constructive debate instead of creating disruptions in the House.

He further said that if the Opposition chooses to create chaos instead of participating in the discussion, it would send the wrong message among the people of the country.

Meanwhile, the Opposition is preparing to corner the government over alleged police action against students and irregularities in the examination system. There are also indications that proceedings in Parliament may witness disruptions during the discussion.
