MOSCOW, July 27 (HS/RIA Novosti) - Chad has announced its withdrawal from the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC), accusing it of being biased against Africa, the Foreign Ministry of Chad said on Monday.

On July 27, 2026, the government of the Republic of Chad notified the Secretary General of the United Nations, which is the depositary of the Rome Statute, of the sovereign decision to withdraw from the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, the ministry said in a communique.

This decision was made following an analysis of the ICC's activities, which Chad considers ineffective and biased against Africa, the statement read, adding that the vast majority of ICC investigations relate specifically to African countries, which indicates the politicization of its activities.
