New Delhi, 23 July (H.S.):
Opposition parties have strongly opposed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s post on X regarding the establishment of fast-track courts to ensure strict punishment for those involved in paper leak cases.
Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Sagarika Ghose, speaking to the media outside Parliament, said, “First resignation, then discussion.” She said the Opposition was demanding a discussion on the NEET issue in Parliament but insisted that Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan must resign before any debate takes place. She questioned why Pradhan should not step down, calling it a crucial issue.
Meanwhile, Communist Party of India (Marxist) MP John Brittas said the protest would not remain limited to Parliament and would continue on the streets. He said the Opposition had decided to remain firm on its demand for Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation and would not step back even slightly. He asserted that the minister must resign.
Samajwadi Party MP Ram Gopal Yadav demanded a white paper on the number of paper leak cases that allegedly occurred during Dharmendra Pradhan’s tenure. He questioned how many people had faced legal action, how many had been convicted, how many were sent to jail and what punishment had been awarded so far, stating that no clear action had been taken.
Opposition parties staged a protest demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. In response, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also held a counter-protest. During the demonstration, BJP MP Arun Singh reportedly snatched a banner demanding the Education Minister’s resignation from CPI(M) MP John Brittas.
