Golaghat (Assam), 23 July (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday visited the flood relief camp set up at Numaligarh Higher Secondary School in Bokakhat to assess the ongoing relief operations and interact with flood-affected people.

During his visit, the Chief Minister spoke with the camp inmates and reviewed the availability of food, safe drinking water, healthcare, sanitation and other essential services. He directed the district administration and concerned departments to address the needs of the displaced people on priority and ensure uninterrupted relief assistance.

Cabinet Ministers Ajanta Neog and Atul Bora accompanied the Chief Minister during the visit.

At present, the relief camp is sheltering 182 people, including 75 men, 107 women and 22 children. The camp also has four infants, four lactating mothers, three pregnant women and one specially-abled person, all of whom are receiving special care. The Chief Minister also reviewed the extent of flood damage in Bokakhat and nearby areas and instructed senior officials, including the Co-District Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, Circle Officer and other concerned authorities, to expedite relief distribution and rehabilitation measures for the affected families.-----------
