Election Commission Revises SIR Timeline for Haryana and Andhra Pradesh, Retains Electoral Roll Publication Dates

New Delhi, 14 July (H.S.): The Election Commission of India has revised certain dates related to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Haryana and Andhra Pradesh. However, the schedule for the publication of the draft and final electoral rolls remains unchanged in both states.

The Commission has written to the Chief Electoral Officers of Haryana and Andhra Pradesh, informing them of the revised timeline following requests received from the states. Under the updated schedule, the door-to-door verification by Booth Level Officers (BLOs), originally scheduled to conclude on June 15, has now been extended until July 24.

The reorganisation of polling stations and voter centres will also be completed by July 24, while the draft electoral rolls will be published on July 31, as originally planned.

The revised schedule further provides that claims and objections may be filed between July 31 and August 30. These claims and objections will be disposed of between July 31 and September 28.

The final electoral rolls will be published on October 3, with no change to the previously announced date.
