New Delhi, 14 July (H.S.): Congress on Tuesday sought an explanation from the Central Government after FBI Director Kash Patel warmly welcomed Pakistan's Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and openly praised Pakistan. The party said the development was a matter of serious concern for India's national interests and urged the government to clarify its position without delay.

Congress General Secretary (Communications) Jairam Ramesh wrote on social media platform X that the understanding reached between the United States and Iran in Islamabad in June has now virtually collapsed, while, in contrast, ties between the United States and Pakistan have continued to strengthen. He noted that after US President Donald Trump, the Vice President, the Secretary of State, and the Commander of US Central Command, FBI Director Kash Patel has now also publicly praised Pakistan.

Ramesh said Pakistan's growing influence in West Asia and on the global stage represents a significant setback for India. He questioned whether the government was unaware of these developments or whether they raised serious concerns about the direction and effectiveness of India's foreign policy.

Notably, FBI Director Kash Patel met Pakistan's Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Monday at FBI Headquarters, where he commended Pakistan's contributions. During the meeting, both sides discussed strengthening cooperation to curb terrorism financing, enhance cyber investigations, and expand security collaboration at both the domestic and international levels.
