Guwahati, 11 July (HS): A 35-year-old man was arrested after allegedly creating a public nuisance, threatening a woman and assaulting police personnel at Rukminigaon's Tangra Satra Road in Guwahati, Assam Police said on Saturday.

According to police, the accused, identified as Raktim Kalita, was allegedly under the influence of alcohol when a Dispur Police team responded to a PCR call. Despite repeated lawful directions, he allegedly refused to cooperate, resisted apprehension, and physically assaulted members of the ERSS-6 and ERSS-7 teams, causing minor injuries.

Police said that after being taken to Dispur Police Station, the accused allegedly continued his aggressive behaviour. He reportedly refused to undergo a breath analyser test, assaulted LNK Osman Ali, tore his uniform, and damaged a wooden wall inside the police station.

A case has been registered at Dispur Police Station (Case No. 500/2026) under Sections 132, 121(1), and 324(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway.-----------
