Kangpokpi (Manipur), 07 June (HS): Newly appointed Manipur Director General of Police (DGP) Mukesh Singh on Sunday conducted his first official visit to Kangpokpi district, where he reviewed the prevailing security situation and interacted with police personnel, CRPF officials and Kuki-Zo civil society representatives.
The visit marked a significant outreach effort by the state police leadership as Kangpokpi continues to face security and humanitarian challenges linked to the ongoing ethnic unrest in Manipur. Upon his arrival at the Superintendent of Police’s office, the DGP was welcomed by representatives of various Kuki-Zo organisations led by Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM), who greeted him with traditional shawls and bouquets.
Accompanied by Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Lhari Dorjee and other senior officers, Mukesh Singh held discussions with community leaders and assured continued engagement with stakeholders to address concerns related to peace and security. During the interaction, Kuki Inpi Manipur submitted a memorandum outlining key issues affecting the Kuki-Zo community, including civilian safety, public confidence, and fair enforcement of law and order.
Earlier in the day, the DGP chaired a security review meeting with district police officials at the SP Office conference hall. The meeting, attended by ADGP (Training) Lunsieh Kipgen, Superintendent of Police Rahul Gupta, and other senior officers, focused on operational preparedness and the overall law and order scenario in the district.
Mukesh Singh also met CRPF personnel deployed in Kangpokpi and reviewed coordination mechanisms between state police and central forces. Discussions centred on security operations, area domination measures and strategies aimed at maintaining stability in sensitive locations.
The visit concluded with assurances of sustained dialogue and cooperation between law enforcement agencies and civil society groups. Participants expressed optimism that continued coordination would help strengthen peace and improve the security environment across the district.-----------
