Prayagraj, 07 June (HS): The City Congress Committee members

have strongly condemned the latest increase of Rs. 29 in domestic LPG cylinder

prices. At a meeting held on Sunday afternoon at the party office in Chowk

under the presidentship of City Congress President Fuzail Hashmi, the leaders

described the hike as yet another blow of inflation on the common people.

The Congress leaders stated that the price of a 14.2 kg

domestic LPG cylinder has increased from Rs. 916.50 to Rs. 954.50. Earlier, on

March 7, the price of a domestic cylinder was raised by Rs. 60. With the latest

revision, the price of a domestic LPG cylinder has gone up by Rs. 89 within the

last three months. They also alleged that the prices of commercial LPG

cylinders have been increased double substantially. Similarly, the price of a 5 kg LPG cylinder

has been increased by Rs. 11.50, while the price of a 10 kg composite cylinder

has been raised by Rs. 20. The Congress leaders demanded that the Prime

Minister and the Petroleum Minister immediately withdraw the hike. They said

that Congress would launch protests on the streets against what they termed the

government's “dictatorial” policy of continuously increasing prices.
