Inter-district transfer policy for teachers and teachers

working under Basic Education Council released

Lucknow, 04 June (HS): The Yogi government is sensitive to

addressing the real and human problems of teachers. In light of this, a special

policy has been established for the inter-district transfer of teachers and

teachers working under the Basic Education Council for the 2026-27 academic

year.

State Minister of Basic Education (Independent Charge)

Sandeep Singh stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi

Adityanath, the state government is committed to protecting the interests of

teachers, as well as ensuring the smooth conduct of important national tasks

such as student education, teacher availability in schools, and the census. As

per the instructions of the Home Ministry of the Government of India, the

Census 2026-27 is being conducted, in which a large number of teachers and teachers

from the Basic Education Department are performing their duties. For this

reason, inter-district transfers have been permitted this year only under

special circumstances.

According to the policy issued by the Additional Chief

Secretary of Basic Education, a teacher will be eligible for transfer if they,

their spouse, or their unmarried son or daughter are disabled. Furthermore,

transfer applications will also be considered if the teacher or their unmarried

son or daughter suffers from cancer or is on dialysis.

Special arrangements have also been made for teacher

couples. If both husband and wife are employed in Basic Education Council

schools, they can be transferred to districts where there is a greater need for

teachers, taking into account the student-teacher ratio. He said that this will

help strike a balance between family life and educational needs. Furthermore,

in other extremely difficult and humanitarian circumstances, transfers can be

considered after the Chief Minister's approval.
