Bhubaneswar, 04 June (H.S.): Following his nomination as a Rajya Sabha candidate by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Debashish Samantaray on Thursday expressed gratitude to the party’s top leadership for placing trust in him.
Speaking to the media, Samantaray thanked Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and BJP state president Manmohan Samal, stating that he remained grateful for the confidence reposed in him by the party leadership.
He said that since his current tenure still has about four years remaining, the party’s decision to nominate him for the Rajya Sabha reflects its trust and organisational strategy. Samantaray added that he respects the party’s decision and considers the responsibility a significant opportunity.
Reaffirming his commitment to the party, Samantaray said he would work with full dedication and energy to strengthen the BJP’s organisational base in Odisha.
Taking a political dig, he also remarked that based on inputs from party workers, the opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD) does not appear to be functioning smoothly internally.
