Mumbai, 30 June (HS): The Food Safety

Permits of six reputed hotels, bakeries, restaurants and clubs in Mumbai were

suspended for violation of food safety norms. The action was taken under the

guidance of Food and Drugs Administration Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe.

FDA teams on June 27 inspected Aditya

Birla New Age Restaurants and Café Private Limited’s Flit and Waarsa Restaurant

at Nariman Point and found wrong branding of food items. Production at M K

Bakery in Boriwali was in progress during the renovation work. The rules

related to sanitary conditions were violated there.

The refrigerator at Hotel Shrikrishna

(Sujit Bar and Restaurant) in Bhandup region was unable to maintain required

temperature for storage of food items. Insanitary conditions were also

reported..

Besides these, action against Hotel

Gopal Krushna (Santa Cruz), Karak Enterprises (Andheri) and Madras Dairy

(Bandra) was initiated for violation of Food Safety Rules.

FDA has appealed to the people to register

their complaints on toll-free number 1800222365.

Meanwhile, hotel owners are being threatened

of action by some extortionists by impersonation as FDA officers.

Tukaram Mundhe has directed hotel

owners to make available free clean drinking water to their customers. Such

boards should be displayed at the restaurants.
