
Guwahati, 28 June (HS): The East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) achieved a major breakthrough by solving a kidnapping case within eight hours of its reporting. The victim, a 45-year-old man from Silchar, was rescued safely, while three accused persons were arrested during the operation.
According to police, the man was abducted from the Beltola Wireless area and the kidnappers allegedly demanded a ransom of ₹6 lakh for his release. Acting swiftly on the complaint, a team from Dispur Police Station launched an operation and with assistance from Dima Hasao Police, rescued the victim unharmed.
The arrested accused have been identified as Abdul Gaffar (37) and Sahab Uddin (38), both residents of Sribhumi Sadar, and Bikash Deka (36) of Baihata Chariali. Police also seized the Scorpio vehicle used in the crime, which was found without a registration number plate.
Police said legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused and further investigation into the case is underway.----------
