Guwahati, 28 June (HS): Intensifying its crackdown on narcotics, an East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) team from Sonapur Police Station seized huge quantity of Codeine Syrup during a targeted operation at Digaru and arrested six alleged drug traffickers.

Acting on specific intelligence, the police intercepted the suspects and recovered the contraband concealed inside a travelling bag. The seizure is being viewed as another significant step in the ongoing campaign against the illegal drug trade in the state.

The arrested accused have been identified as Saddam Hussein (31), Dildar Ali (29), Aizul Hussain (28), Anuwar Hussain (38), Moinul Islam (35) and Wahidul Ali (18), all residents of Nagaon district.

Police have initiated legal proceedings against the accused and launched further investigation to trace the network involved in the transportation and supply of the narcotic substance.-----------
