Gold Prices Jump Across Major Indian Cities Despite Weekly Fall; Silver Slips Marginally

New Delhi, 28 June (H.S.): Domestic bullion markets witnessed a strong upward trend on Sunday, with gold prices rising sharply across most major cities, while silver registered a marginal decline. Despite the day's rally, both gold and silver ended the week lower compared to the previous week's closing levels.

Gold prices increased by Rs 1,040 to Rs 1,140 per 10 grams in most bullion markets across the country, except Chennai. In Chennai, the yellow metal gained between Rs 690 and Rs 760 per 10 grams. In contrast, silver prices slipped marginally by up to Rs 100 per kilogram.

Following the day's gains, the retail price of 24-carat gold ranged between Rs 143,950 and Rs 145,860 per 10 grams across major markets. Similarly, 22-carat gold traded between Rs 131,950 and Rs 133,700 per 10 grams. Silver was quoted at Rs 240,000 per kilogram in the Delhi bullion market.

Despite Sunday's gains, gold and silver recorded losses on a weekly basis. During the past week's trading, the price of 24-carat gold declined by as much as Rs 2,510 per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold fell by up to Rs 2,300 per 10 grams. Silver also weakened over the week, declining by nearly Rs 10,000 per kilogram despite intermittent price fluctuations.

In Delhi, 24-carat gold was priced at Rs 144,100 per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold was trading at Rs 132,100 per 10 grams. In Mumbai, 24-carat gold was quoted at Rs 143,950 per 10 grams and 22-carat gold at Rs 131,950 per 10 grams. In Ahmedabad, retail prices stood at Rs 144,000 per 10 grams for 24-carat gold and Rs 132,000 per 10 grams for 22-carat gold.

Among other major markets, Chennai recorded the highest prices, with 24-carat gold selling at Rs 145,860 per 10 grams and 22-carat gold at Rs 133,700 per 10 grams. In Kolkata, 24-carat gold traded at Rs 143,950 per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold was priced at Rs 131,950 per 10 grams. In Bhopal, 24-carat gold was available at Rs 144,000 per 10 grams and 22-carat gold at Rs 132,000 per 10 grams.

In Jaipur, 24-carat gold was quoted at Rs 144,100 per 10 grams and 22-carat gold at Rs 132,100 per 10 grams. Patna recorded prices of Rs 144,000 per 10 grams for 24-carat gold and Rs 132,000 per 10 grams for 22-carat gold. In Lucknow, 24-carat gold traded at Rs 144,100 per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold was priced at Rs 132,100 per 10 grams.

Gold prices also strengthened in the bullion markets of Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Bhubaneswar. In all three cities, 24-carat gold traded at Rs 143,950 per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold was available at Rs 131,950 per 10 grams. Silver prices, however, remained marginally weaker across major markets.
