MOSCOW, June 27 (HS/RIA Novosti) - A tanker came under fire in the Strait of Hormuz, The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said on Saturday.

UKMTO has received a report of an incident within the Strait of Hormuz. The Master of Tanker has reported being struck by an unidentified projectile, the statement read.

Although the captain’s bridge of the tanker was damaged, all crew members are safe, UKMTO said, adding that authorities are currently investigating the case.

On Thursday, Iran’s Persian Gulf Strait Authority (PGSA) said that Iran does not guarantee safe passage of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz via unauthorized routes.

That same day, UKMTO said that a cargo ship had been shelled off the coast of Oman in the Strait of Hormuz. It did not specify who attacked the vessel, but The Wall Street Journal reported that Iran was responsible.
