Chandigarh, 27 June (H.S.): Chandigarh may

soon get 50 additional MBBS seats and 50 postgraduate medical seats, a move

that could significantly strengthen medical education and healthcare

infrastructure in the city. A major decision in this regard is expected within

the next ten days following a positive meeting with Chandigarh Administrator

and Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria.

A delegation of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Chandigarh,

led by State President Jatinder Pal Malhotra, met Administrator Gulab Chand

Kataria and discussed key issues related to the expansion of medical education

and the city’s development. The delegation included State Vice Presidents

Davinder Singh Babla, Indira Singh and Raj Kishore.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on

the proposal to introduce 50 additional MBBS seats and 50 PG seats in

Chandigarh. The delegation emphasized that strengthening medical education

would benefit local students and help Chandigarh emerge as an even stronger

education and healthcare hub.

It was stated that a formal request had already been

submitted to the Central Government regarding the addition of these seats.

Following the positive discussion with the Administrator, there is strong

optimism that the demand may soon be fulfilled. A significant decision from the

Central Government is expected within the next ten days.

BJP Chandigarh President Jatinder Pal Malhotra described

the meeting as highly positive. He said Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria

listened to all the issues seriously and assured the delegation that necessary

directions would be issued to the concerned officials.

Malhotra said the addition of 50 MBBS and 50 PG seats

would be a major step towards strengthening medical education in Chandigarh. He

added that the party has been consistently raising issues related to public

welfare, education, healthcare and overall development of the city.

The delegation also urged the Administrator to speed up pending

development projects, improve public amenities and ensure the timely resolution

of civic issues being faced by residents. The Administrator responded

positively and assured that appropriate action would be taken.

Malhotra said BJP Chandigarh remains committed to taking the city forward in

the fields of education, healthcare and development in line with the

aspirations of the people. He expressed confidence that continuous efforts

would soon bring visible results for Chandigarh.
