
Chandigarh, 27 June (H.S.): Chandigarh may
soon get 50 additional MBBS seats and 50 postgraduate medical seats, a move
that could significantly strengthen medical education and healthcare
infrastructure in the city. A major decision in this regard is expected within
the next ten days following a positive meeting with Chandigarh Administrator
and Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria.
A delegation of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Chandigarh,
led by State President Jatinder Pal Malhotra, met Administrator Gulab Chand
Kataria and discussed key issues related to the expansion of medical education
and the city’s development. The delegation included State Vice Presidents
Davinder Singh Babla, Indira Singh and Raj Kishore.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on
the proposal to introduce 50 additional MBBS seats and 50 PG seats in
Chandigarh. The delegation emphasized that strengthening medical education
would benefit local students and help Chandigarh emerge as an even stronger
education and healthcare hub.
It was stated that a formal request had already been
submitted to the Central Government regarding the addition of these seats.
Following the positive discussion with the Administrator, there is strong
optimism that the demand may soon be fulfilled. A significant decision from the
Central Government is expected within the next ten days.
BJP Chandigarh President Jatinder Pal Malhotra described
the meeting as highly positive. He said Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria
listened to all the issues seriously and assured the delegation that necessary
directions would be issued to the concerned officials.
Malhotra said the addition of 50 MBBS and 50 PG seats
would be a major step towards strengthening medical education in Chandigarh. He
added that the party has been consistently raising issues related to public
welfare, education, healthcare and overall development of the city.
The delegation also urged the Administrator to speed up pending
development projects, improve public amenities and ensure the timely resolution
of civic issues being faced by residents. The Administrator responded
positively and assured that appropriate action would be taken.
Malhotra said BJP Chandigarh remains committed to taking the city forward in
the fields of education, healthcare and development in line with the
aspirations of the people. He expressed confidence that continuous efforts
would soon bring visible results for Chandigarh.
