Hyderabad, June 26 (HS): Telangana will implement the e-Zero FIR system to enable the immediate registration of cybercrime complaints, following directions issued by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a nationwide review meeting on cyber security and cybercrime held through video conferencing on Thursday.

The Prime Minister reviewed the cybercrime situation with Chief Secretaries and Directors General of Police of various states. Telangana Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, Director General of Police C.V. Anand and other senior officials participated in the meeting.

During the review, the Prime Minister directed states to implement the e-Zero FIR system to facilitate prompt registration of cybercrime complaints and strengthen the response mechanism for victims.

Speaking after the meeting, DGP C.V. Anand said discussions focused on measures to curb cybercrime, prevent instances of digital arrest fraud and ensure timely assistance to victims.

He urged the public not to transfer money under pressure from fraudsters posing as law enforcement or government officials. Citizens facing such incidents should immediately report them through the National Cyber Crime Helpline 1930, he said.

The e-Zero FIR initiative, launched by the Union Government on May 19, 2025, was initially introduced as a pilot project in Delhi before being expanded to other states.
