Guwahati, 26 June (HS): Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya, accompanied by the First Lady, Kumud Devi, visited the Kamakhya Temple on Friday following its reopening after the annual Ambubachi Mela. The Governor offered prayers to Maa Kamakhya, seeking peace, prosperity and development for the people of Assam.

Marking the conclusion of the Ambubachi Mela at the 'Nivritti' ceremony, Governor Acharya offered puja at the revered Shakti Peeth and prayed for the welfare of all sections of society. He appreciated the participation of lakhs of devotees and pilgrims from across India and abroad, describing their presence as a key factor in the successful conduct of the annual spiritual gathering.

The Governor commended the efforts of the Temple Management Committee, district administration, police personnel, sanitation workers, volunteers and other stakeholders for ensuring the smooth, safe and peaceful conduct of the festival. He said the event reflected India's rich spiritual heritage and the spirit of harmony and coexistence.

Acharya also thanked devotees for maintaining discipline, cleanliness and communal harmony throughout the festival.----------
