New Delhi, 24 June (H.S.):
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President Nitin Nabin on Wednesday sent Indian mangoes as gifts to diplomats representing 82 countries stationed in New Delhi, in an initiative aimed at showcasing India's rich cultural and agricultural heritage.
Sharing details of the outreach programme on social media platform X, Vijay Chauthaiwale, who heads the BJP's Foreign Affairs Department, said the initiative was inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's remarks on the significance of mangoes during an episode of the Mann Ki Baat programme.
According to Chauthaiwale, heads of missions from 82 countries received specially curated gift packages featuring four of India's most celebrated mango varieties—Kesar, Dasheri, Banganapalli, and Langra. The gifts were accompanied by a personalised message.
He noted that each mango variety reflects the unique identity, flavour, agricultural traditions, and cultural heritage of the region from which it originates. The initiative, he said, embodies India's philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (The World is One Family) and serves as an effort to share the country's culture, goodwill, and warmth with the international community.
The outreach programme highlights India's use of cultural diplomacy to strengthen people-to-people connections and foster closer engagement with the global diplomatic fraternity through symbols of its diverse traditions and agricultural excellence.
