New Delhi, 24 June (H.S.): Bangladesh has joined the International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA) as a member nation, further strengthening global efforts aimed at the conservation of big cat species and their natural habitats. The alliance formally welcomed Bangladesh as its newest member on Wednesday.

In a message posted on its official social media platform, the International Big Cat Alliance extended a warm welcome to the Government of Bangladesh, describing its inclusion as a significant milestone in advancing international cooperation for the protection of big cats and biodiversity.

The alliance stated that Bangladesh’s membership will contribute to strengthening collaborative initiatives focused on wildlife conservation, biodiversity protection, and the preservation of vital ecosystems. It noted that the addition of a new member nation reflects a growing global commitment to safeguarding tigers and other big cat species, along with the habitats on which they depend.

According to the IBCA, Bangladesh’s participation is expected to provide fresh momentum to international conservation programmes and encourage greater knowledge-sharing, research cooperation, and coordinated action among member countries.

The alliance further emphasized that protecting big cats is closely linked to maintaining ecological balance and ensuring the long-term health of natural ecosystems. Efforts undertaken through the alliance are designed to secure a sustainable future for endangered species and preserve biodiversity for future generations.
