New Delhi, 24 June (H.S.): Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will chair the 10th Apex-Level Meeting of the Narcotics Coordination Centre (NCORD) at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi on June 26. Organised by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), the meeting will review the efforts of various ministries, state governments, and law enforcement agencies aimed at achieving the goal of a drug-free India.

The Ministry of Home Affairs said on Wednesday that Amit Shah will release the “Vision Document on Drug Control (2026–2029)” and the NCB Annual Report 2025 during the meeting. Prepared after extensive consultations, the vision document outlines a comprehensive three-year roadmap focused on reducing drug demand, curbing supply, and minimising the social and health harms associated with substance abuse.

The document places special emphasis on tackling synthetic drugs, combating trafficking through darknet platforms, preventing youth from falling into drug addiction, expanding treatment and rehabilitation facilities, and strengthening coordination among various enforcement and administrative agencies. According to the government, the framework will serve as a guiding strategy for realising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a “Drug-Free India.”

On the occasion, the Home Minister will also launch the Online Drug Disposal Fortnight Campaign. Under this nationwide initiative, central and state agencies will destroy approximately 209,500 kilograms of narcotic substances with an estimated market value of Rs 6,000 crore.

In addition, Amit Shah will inaugurate newly established NCB zonal offices in Jammu and Guwahati, further strengthening the agency’s operational capabilities in key regions.

The meeting will bring together representatives from 44 central ministries and departments, along with 108 representatives from state governments and narcotics law enforcement agencies, participating both in person and virtually.

Discussions during the meeting will focus on formulating an effective strategy to combat drug trafficking and substance abuse across the country over the next three years, while enhancing coordination and intelligence-sharing among stakeholders involved in narcotics control.
