New Delhi, 24 June (H.S.): The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released the report of an Independent Drive Test (IDT) conducted to assess mobile network quality on the Manoharpur–Dausa stretch of National Highway 148 (NH-148) in Rajasthan. According to the report, Reliance Jio emerged as the top performer in terms of data download speeds, while Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) recorded the weakest performance.

TRAI stated that the drive test was conducted on May 2 across a 62.2-kilometre route between Manoharpur and Dausa in the Rajasthan Licensed Service Area (LSA). The objective of the exercise was to evaluate the actual quality of voice and data services being provided by various telecom service providers.

According to the report, Reliance Jio recorded the highest average data download speed at 247.01 Mbps. Airtel followed with an average download speed of 102.80 Mbps, while Vodafone Idea (Vi) registered 35.97 Mbps. BSNL recorded the lowest average download speed at just 3.99 Mbps.

In terms of data upload speeds, Airtel emerged as the leader with an average speed of 20.93 Mbps. Jio recorded an upload speed of 19.14 Mbps, followed by Vi at 17.25 Mbps, while BSNL lagged significantly behind at 1.88 Mbps.

BSNL also performed the worst in terms of coverage gaps. During the testing process, signal strength in 2,213 BSNL samples was found to be below the prescribed minimum threshold. In comparison, Airtel recorded 217 such samples, Jio 189, and Vi 420.

Airtel delivered the best performance in call reliability, recording zero call drops during the test. Jio registered one dropped call, Vi recorded two, while BSNL experienced six call drops.

According to TRAI, the drive test route passed through the areas of Lakher, Nekwala, Chilpali Mor, Bahlor, Raisar, Pawta, Sankotra, Andhi, Ramjipura and Jhera. The findings of the test have been shared with the concerned telecom service providers for necessary corrective action and network improvements.
