New Delhi, 24 June (H.S.):The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has slammed Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann following the registration of an FIR in Gurugram in connection with a controversial video case. The party alleged that Mann orchestrated a fabricated report through the misuse of money and attempted to undermine the sentiments of the Sikh community.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters on Wednesday, senior BJP leader and Delhi Government minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa levelled serious allegations against the Punjab Chief Minister. Sirsa claimed that the five Singh Sahibans of Sri Akal Takht Sahib had issued a directive stating that no Sikh should maintain any association with Bhagwant Mann.
He said that a video had surfaced earlier in which Bhagwant Mann was allegedly seen sprinkling alcohol on the sacred form of Guru Sahib. According to Sirsa, the video triggered deep anger and anguish among Sikhs across the world, as no Sikh can tolerate any disrespect towards the Guru Sahib.
Sirsa stated that following the emergence of the video, the Akal Takht summoned Bhagwant Mann on January 5, 2026, and gave him an opportunity to present his explanation. Mann reportedly claimed that the video had been generated using artificial intelligence (AI). However, Sirsa asserted that a forensic examination later established that the video was entirely authentic.
He further said that on June 15, 2026, Akal Takht Sahib declared Bhagwant Mann a betrayer of the faith and an opponent of the Khalsa Panth. According to Sirsa, the Sikh temporal authority subsequently excommunicated Mann from the Sikh community and directed Sikhs worldwide to sever all ties with him.
Sirsa also alleged that Mann’s close associate, Swapn Sharma, held a meeting at a hotel in Gurugram involving individuals linked to a forensic laboratory. He claimed that money changed hands during the meeting and that efforts were made to extensively edit the video in a manner that would create the impression that Bhagwant Mann was not present in it and that the footage was fabricated.
Accusing certain individuals of disregarding Sikh sentiments for financial gain, Sirsa said that a false narrative was deliberately constructed. He alleged that the mindset currently being displayed in Punjab was reminiscent of the oppressive attitudes witnessed during the Mughal era.
Sirsa further alleged that Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal and his associates misused funds to procure a false forensic report and challenge the sentiments of the Sikh community. He claimed that the entire exercise was aimed at weakening the supremacy and authority of the Akal Takht.
