Lucknow, 23 June (HS): Senior Congress leader Salman
Khurshid stated on Tuesday that a solid partnership between the Congress and
the Samajwadi Party (SP) might help both parties do well in the 2027 Uttar
Pradesh Assembly elections. Khurshid stated that it was too early to predict
the election results and that both parties still had a lot of work to do on the
ground and in forging alliances. There are considerable prospects for a robust
alliance between the Samajwadi Party and the Congress Party in Uttar Pradesh.
He stated that it is premature to predict who would win or lose at this time
since there is a lot of work to be done on the ground as well as in forging
alliances. Khurshid stated that if both parties work together with full
devotion and equal involvement, they stand a decent chance of strengthening
their standing in UP.
If the coalition actually represents both parties'
participation and entire commitment, we have a very strong chance of turning
things around in Uttar Pradesh, he added. The Congress and SP together fought
the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections and the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
While the alliance failed to prevent the BJP's triumph in the 2017 Assembly
elections, it fared well in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, with the SP gaining
37 seats and the Congress taking six. Meanwhile, Khurshid referred to the
latest Ram Temple gift incident as a source of severe worry and sought action
against those guilty.
