Amritsar, 21 June (H.S.): On the
occasion of the 12th International Yoga Day, personnel of the Border Security
Force (BSF) performed yoga exercises at the Attari-Wagah Joint Check Post along
the India-Pakistan border, spreading the message of health, discipline, and
mental well-being. A special yoga session was organised at the border, which
witnessed participation from a large number of BSF officers, jawans, and local
residents.
The yoga session began in the morning with a collective
prayer. The participants performed various yoga asanas, including Surya
Namaskar, Tadasana, Anulom-Vilom, Kapalbhati, Bhramari, and other breathing
exercises. The objective of the programme was not only to keep the soldiers
physically fit but also to strengthen them mentally.
BSF officials said that yoga serves as an effective tool
to reduce stress and improve mental concentration for soldiers deployed round
the clock in border security duties. They stated that yoga not only keeps the
body healthy but also helps maintain positive thinking and self-confidence even
in difficult situations.
Youth from the border areas also enthusiastically
participated in the yoga programme. Yoga instructors informed the participants
about different yoga postures and their health benefits. They emphasized that
regular yoga practice helps prevent several serious diseases and promotes a
healthy lifestyle.
Senior officials of the BSF Punjab Frontier said that
yoga is not merely a physical exercise but a complete way of life. It develops
discipline, self-confidence, and mental balance, which are essential qualities
for personnel deployed on border duties.
During the programme, messages such as “One Earth, One
Health, One Resolve – Yoga” and “Strength Through Yoga, Security Through Yoga”
were highlighted. Officials said that India’s borders are strengthened not only
by weapons but also by discipline, restraint, and a healthy lifestyle.
The programme concluded with a collective prayer, and
all participants pledged to make yoga a regular part of their daily lives. BSF
officials stated that yoga has emerged as a universal medium of peace, health,
and human welfare while also representing India’s ancient cultural heritage.
