Patna, 20 June (H.S.): A court in Bihar on Saturday granted interim relief to noted educator Faisal Khan, popularly known as Khan Sir, in connection with a case related to a firing and vandalism incident outside his coaching institute earlier this month. The court directed the police not to take any coercive action against him until the next hearing on his anticipatory bail plea.

The order came during the hearing of Khan Sir's application seeking anticipatory bail after he was named in a First Information Report (FIR) registered by Patna Police. The case pertains to the June 2 incident outside the Khan Global Studies coaching institute, where a group of individuals allegedly vandalised the premises and resorted to stone-pelting.

According to the police, the incident occurred at around 10:10 p.m. on June 2. During the investigation, officers recovered video footage that allegedly showed two individuals firing shots into the air after the vandalism. Based on the evidence collected, police arrested two security guards employed at the coaching institute.

Investigators stated that the two guards were identified through the video footage and were later found to be in possession of firearms. Following the arrests and further investigation, police booked Khan Sir and two others under charges related to abetment, along with relevant provisions of the Arms Act.

Khan Sir has denied any wrongdoing and approached the court seeking protection from arrest. While granting interim relief on Saturday, the court ordered that no coercive measures be taken against him until the matter is heard again, allowing the legal process to continue without immediate arrest.

The case has drawn significant public attention because of Khan Sir's popularity among competitive examination aspirants across the country. Authorities have maintained that the investigation is being carried out based on evidence and legal procedures.

Following the incident, Patna Police also appealed to students not to be influenced by competition or rivalry among coaching institutes. Officials urged the student community to maintain peace and emphasised that strict action would be taken against anyone found disturbing law and order.

The investigation into the June 2 incident remains underway, and the court is expected to take up Khan Sir's anticipatory bail plea at its next scheduled hearing.
