Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 12 years in office would be remembered as a defining chapter in the history of independent India, asserting that the period has been marked by national resurgence, rapid development, and a significant rise in India's global standing.
Addressing a public gathering after the launch of the Goddess Ambabai Temple Corridor Project in Kolhapur, Shah said the achievements of the Modi government would be recorded in golden letters when the history of independent India is written.
He said Prime Minister Modi's leadership over the past 12 years has transformed India into a stronger, more self-confident nation while enhancing its reputation on the global stage. According to Shah, the government's focus on economic growth, infrastructure development, national security, digital transformation, and welfare initiatives has laid the foundation for a developed and self-reliant India.
The Home Minister said India's voice now carries greater weight in international affairs and that the country's growing diplomatic influence reflects the leadership provided during the past decade. He also credited the government with implementing reforms that have strengthened governance, improved public service delivery, and accelerated development across various sectors.
Speaking at the event on Saturday, Shah said the Prime Minister's tenure has been dedicated to building a resurgent India and ensuring that the country earns greater respect and recognition across the world. He added that future generations would remember this period as one of significant national transformation.
The Home Minister was in Kolhapur to launch the ambitious Goddess Ambabai Temple Corridor Project, which aims to improve infrastructure around the historic Shri Mahalakshmi Temple while preserving its cultural and religious heritage. The project is expected to enhance facilities for pilgrims, improve connectivity, and promote tourism in the region.
Shah also highlighted the government's commitment to preserving India's spiritual and cultural heritage alongside its development agenda. He said projects focused on heritage conservation, tourism, and modern infrastructure are being implemented across the country to boost local economies while safeguarding historic sites.
The event was attended by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, senior state ministers, public representatives, and a large number of devotees and local residents.
