
New Delhi, 20 June (H.S.): The Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment will organise a special programme titled Yoga for Healthy Ageing at Bharat Mandapam on Sunday to mark International Yoga Day 2026. Around 1,500 senior citizens are expected to participate in the event.
According to the Ministry, the programme will be held from 11:00 a.m. on Sunday as part of the nationwide celebrations of the 12th International Yoga Day. The initiative aims to promote active and healthy ageing, well-being, independence and greater social participation among senior citizens.
The programme will feature a mass yoga session by elderly participants, along with spiritual discourses focusing on mindful living, inner harmony, emotional well-being and healthy ageing.
The Ministry said the event is designed to encourage senior citizens to adopt yoga as a way of improving their physical, mental and emotional health while fostering a more active and fulfilling lifestyle.
Preparations for the nationwide observance of International Yoga Day 2026 have been completed across the country. The Ministry has called upon senior citizens from all parts of India to join this collective movement for a healthier and more inclusive society.
