Kamrup (Assam), 19 June (HS): In a student-friendly decision aimed at providing relief during the ongoing summer heat, the Kamrup District Education Officer has announced that students will be allowed to attend schools without wearing uniforms. The directive came into effect from today and is applicable across educational institutions in the district.

According to the order, no student can be compelled, pressured, or denied access to classes for not wearing the prescribed school uniform during the summer period. The move has been welcomed by parents and guardians, who had raised concerns over students' discomfort due to soaring temperatures.

The education department has further clarified that the instruction is mandatory not only for government schools but also for private educational institutions operating in the district. School authorities have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the order and avoid any form of coercion regarding uniforms.

Officials stated that the measure has been introduced keeping students' health and well-being in mind. Significantly, this is being viewed as a first-of-its-kind directive in Assam, marking a notable step towards prioritizing student welfare during extreme weather conditions.----------
