Amritsar, 19 June (H.S.) In a major breakthrough, the Border Security Force (BSF) has

recovered a large cache of weapons from the border district of Amritsar. Acting

on specific intelligence inputs, the BSF's 117 Battalion detained an Indian

national near Harar Khurd village in the Ajnala sector. Based on information

provided by the suspect, security personnel recovered a significant quantity of

arms and ammunition.

According to officials, the BSF received a

credible intelligence tip-off on Thursday night regarding the presence of

illegal weapons in the area. Following the input, a search operation was

launched in Harar Khurd village under the Ajnala police station jurisdiction in

Amritsar Rural.

During the operation, security forces recovered

one AK-47 assault rifle, 25 pistols, 47 pistol magazines, one bulletproof

jacket, and 368 live cartridges. The recovery is being viewed as one of the

major arms seizures in the region in recent months.

BSF officials stated that the detained

individual is currently being interrogated by the 117 Battalion. Security

agencies are trying to determine the intended use of the weapons and identify

the network responsible for their procurement and storage.

Officials said the investigation is ongoing

and more significant revelations are expected in the coming days. Following the

seizure, the BSF and other security agencies have intensified surveillance and

security measures across the border belt.
