

Amritsar, 19 June (H.S.) In a major breakthrough, the Border Security Force (BSF) has
recovered a large cache of weapons from the border district of Amritsar. Acting
on specific intelligence inputs, the BSF's 117 Battalion detained an Indian
national near Harar Khurd village in the Ajnala sector. Based on information
provided by the suspect, security personnel recovered a significant quantity of
arms and ammunition.
According to officials, the BSF received a
credible intelligence tip-off on Thursday night regarding the presence of
illegal weapons in the area. Following the input, a search operation was
launched in Harar Khurd village under the Ajnala police station jurisdiction in
Amritsar Rural.
During the operation, security forces recovered
one AK-47 assault rifle, 25 pistols, 47 pistol magazines, one bulletproof
jacket, and 368 live cartridges. The recovery is being viewed as one of the
major arms seizures in the region in recent months.
BSF officials stated that the detained
individual is currently being interrogated by the 117 Battalion. Security
agencies are trying to determine the intended use of the weapons and identify
the network responsible for their procurement and storage.
Officials said the investigation is ongoing
and more significant revelations are expected in the coming days. Following the
seizure, the BSF and other security agencies have intensified surveillance and
security measures across the border belt.
