
Shivsagar (Assam), 19 June (HS): A large leopard has trapped in a cage installed by the Forest Department at Garh Ali in Nazira late Thursday night, bringing temporary relief to residents who had been living under constant fear due to repeated attacks on livestock.
According to local sources, the leopard had been roaming the area for the past several days and was allegedly responsible for killing a number of domestic animals. The incidents had triggered widespread concern among villagers, prompting the Forest Department to intensify monitoring and set up a trap.
The animal was successfully captured after entering the cage laid by forest officials. Following the operation, forest personnel secured the leopard and initiated further procedures in accordance with wildlife management protocols.
Despite the capture, anxiety continues among local residents, who suspect that several more leopards may still be present in the surrounding areas. Villagers have urged the authorities to conduct extensive surveillance and take necessary measures to prevent any further threat to human life and livestock.
Forest officials are closely monitoring the situation, while residents have been advised to remain cautious and report any wildlife movement immediately.---------------
