
Guwahati, 17 June (HS): Continuing its crackdown on narcotics under the Assam Against Drugs campaign, the Assam Police Commissionerate on Wednesday informed about the arrested two drug peddlers in separate operations and seized significant quantities of heroin along with cash, a vehicle and other items.
In the first operation, a team from Paltan Bazar Police Station apprehended Momata Begum (50), a resident of Sipajhar. During the search, police recovered 11 vials of heroin weighing 15.79 grams and seized ₹640 in cash from her possession.
In another anti-narcotics operation, a team from Basistha Police Station conducted a raid at a hideout near the service road between Lalmati and Beharbari. The operation led to the arrest of Gul Mahammad Ali (30) of Boko.
Police said 25 grams of heroin concealed inside two soap boxes were recovered from the accused. The team also seized a mobile phone and an Alto car bearing registration number AS01DV0899.
Authorities have initiated legal proceedings in both cases as the state police continue their intensified drive against drug trafficking across Assam.----------
