Guwahati, 17 June (HS): Assam Cultural Affairs Minister Bimal Bora on Wednesday announced the recipients of the prestigious state awards for 2026, recognising distinguished contributions in the fields of art, literature and culture.

In a press conference in Guwahati on Wednesday the minister said that Madhusudan Das has been selected for the Vishnu Rabha Award for his contribution to fine arts, while noted dancer Manik Borbayan will receive the Vishnu Rabha Award in the field of dance.

Renowned litterateur Geeta Upadhyay has been chosen for the Sati Sadhani Award in recognition of her contribution to literature. The Ajan Pir Award will be conferred on Shamsuddin Ahmed for his services in promoting the state's cultural heritage and communal harmony.

The awards will be presented during the Rabha Divas celebrations at Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati on June 20.---------------
