Mansa, 17 June (H.S.): A 29-year-old man was
brutally murdered in the Budhlada area of Mansa district early on Wednesday
morning. The victim had left home for the vegetable market before sunrise when
unidentified assailants allegedly attacked him with sharp-edged weapons,
leading to his death on the spot.
The deceased has been identified as Rajdeep Singh, a
resident of Dariyapur Khurd village. He worked as an accountant at the Budhlada
vegetable market. According to information, Rajdeep Singh had left his house at
around 4:30 am, as per his daily routine, but could not reach the market.
Family members said that the attackers were allegedly
waiting for him around 15 minutes away from his house. They claimed that
Rajdeep was first stopped and thrown off his scooter, after which the
assailants attacked him with sharp-edged weapons. He reportedly suffered
serious injuries on his neck and other parts of the body.
In the morning, people noticed his blood-soaked body
lying on the road near the railway crossing between Dariyapur and Kulana. The
family was informed and they reached the spot, where they identified the body.
Rajdeep Singh was married and left behind his wife and
two children. The incident has left the family in deep shock and grief.
The victim’s mother, Jasbir Kaur, expressed suspicion
over some neighbouring persons. She alleged that after the death of a youth in
the village some time ago, baseless allegations were being levelled against
their family, due to which they were under mental stress.
After receiving information about the incident, police reached the spot and
took the body into custody before sending it for post-mortem examination.
Police officials said the matter is being investigated seriously. Statements of
people in the surrounding area are being recorded and efforts are underway to
identify the attackers.
