Kathmandu, June 16 (HS): National Independent Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane received major legal relief on Tuesday after a district court in Nepal's Rupandehi district dismissed charges of organised crime and money laundering filed against him in connection with a cooperative fraud case.

A single bench of Judge Ramesh Kant Adhikari ordered the removal of the additional charges, ruling that proceedings on those counts would not continue. However, the main cooperative fraud case against Lamichhane remains pending before the court.

The court's order also provided relief to other accused in the case, including absconding businessman GB Rai and jailed accused Kumar Ramtel, who were facing similar charges.

The cooperative fraud case has been under investigation for alleged financial irregularities and misuse of funds collected from depositors.
