Guwahati, 16 June (HS): Highlighting what it described as a transformative phase in Assam’s development, the Assam Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday organized a grand exhibition at Swahid Smarak Kshetra in Guwahati to commemorate 12 years of the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre.
The exhibition, inaugurated by Assam BJP President Dilip Saikia and State Finance Minister Jayanta Malla Barua, seeks to showcase major developmental initiatives and achievements undertaken during the last twelve years under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. The four-day event began at 11 a.m. and is expected to attract party workers, supporters and members of the public.
According to an official BJP press release, the people of Assam and the North-East had long felt neglected despite decades of governance by previous administrations. The party stated that several key demands of the region, including major infrastructure projects, educational institutions and cultural initiatives, were achieved only after prolonged public movements and agitations.
The statement claimed that during the last twelve years, Prime Minister Modi’s vision of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” and his emphasis on inclusive development have transformed the relationship between the North-East and the Centre. It said the perception of neglect has been replaced by a sense of trust, confidence and greater integration with the national mainstream.
The BJP highlighted several projects and achievements in Assam during the period, including major bridge and tunnel infrastructure, the semiconductor manufacturing project at Jagiroad, the development of Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, UNESCO recognition for the Charaideo Maidams, and initiatives related to the preservation of the cultural and spiritual heritage of Srimanta Sankardeva.
Addressing the gathering, BJP State President Dilip Saikia said the people of Assam would remain grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his contribution towards the State’s development and progress. The exhibition aims to present the journey of development and transformation witnessed in Assam and the North-East over the past twelve years.
The information was shared through an official communiqué issued by the Assam Pradesh BJP and conveyed by party spokesperson Kishore Kumar Bhattacharya.------------
