(HS): It is a moment of great pride for the Department of Gastroenterology at
Motilal Nehru Medical College, Prayagraj. Dr. Vagish Barnwal, a third-year DM
(Gastroenterology) student, has brought national honor to the institute by
receiving the Best Case Award at the prestigious 7th DRILLS 2026
(Decisions Reasoning Innovations & Learning in Liver Diseases) conference
held in New Delhi.
The conference was organized by the Institute of
Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS), New Delhi, on June 13th and 14th, 2026, and
was attended by approximately 1,500 delegates from India and abroad. Nearly 400
complex and challenging cases related to liver diseases were presented at the
conference. Of these, the case presented by Dr. Vagish Barnwal was declared the
best, a testament to his academic excellence and clinical expertise.
This achievement was facilitated by the guidance of
senior faculty in the Department of Gastroenterology. In particular, the Head
of the Department and renowned hepatologist, Prof. (Dr.) S.P. Mishra, was
awarded a Certificate of Appreciation at DRILLS 2026 for his successful
guidance of this outstanding case.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) S. P. Mishra
said, It is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction for our department
and Motilal Nehru Medical College, Prayagraj that our third year DM student,
Dr. Vagish Barnwal, was awarded the Best Case Award at the prestigious DRILLS
2026 conference held at ILBS, New Delhi. This achievement on a national
platform with around 400 case presentations and 1500 delegates in attendance,
reflects the clinical competence, academic quality, and dedication of our
students.
He further said, This is not just the success
of one individual, but the result of the excellent academic environment, hard
work, and high standards developed in our department. I heartily congratulate
Dr. Vagish Barnwal for this remarkable achievement and hope that this success
will inspire our young doctors to achieve excellence in medical education and
research. This achievement proves that institutions like Prayagraj can also
stand at par with the best medical centers in the country and showcase their
talent.
