
Imphal, 15 June (HS): Tension resurfaced in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district on Monday after a fresh firing incident was reported near Leilon Waiphei and Konsakhul villages, leaving three persons injured.
According to reports, the incident occurred in the morning, triggering concern in the area and prompting heightened security measures. The injured were evacuated under tight security and admitted to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, for treatment.
The injured have been identified as Jenlenmang Waiphei (18), Lunliandaw Waiphei (20) and Paogou Lal (18). Sources said all three belong to the Kuki community.
Following the incident, security forces were placed on alert and additional monitoring was initiated to prevent any escalation of the situation. Civil and security authorities are closely tracking developments in the affected area.
Officials have not yet confirmed the circumstances that led to the firing or the identities of those involved. No formal statement has been issued so far by either the Manipur Police or the district administration.
