Imphal, 10 June (HS): Manipur Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh welcomed the safe release of 14 Kuki hostages, describing the development as a positive and humanitarian step amid the ongoing crisis in the state.

The hostages had reportedly been abducted by suspected militants, triggering widespread concern and resentment across Manipur. The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to all individuals, groups and organisations that contributed to securing their safe release.

He particularly lauded the role played by Naga civil society organisations, stating that their intervention reflected humanity, responsibility and deep concern for human life. According to him, such initiatives help build trust and strengthen humanitarian values during difficult times.

Appealing for peace and normalcy, the Chief Minister urged people from all sections of society to shun violence and work collectively towards restoring harmony in the state. He noted that the prolonged crisis has caused immense suffering to many individuals and families.

Reiterating the government's commitment to justice, the Chief Minister said strict legal action would be taken against those involved in unlawful activities. He asserted that the law would take its course and justice would be ensured for all affected persons.----------
