Bhubaneswar, 10 June (H.S.): Sudhanshu Sekhar Barpanda on Wednesday took oath as a Member of the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) at a formal ceremony held at the Commission’s Hearing Hall in Bhubaneswar.

The oath of office and secrecy was administered in the presence of Additional Chief Secretary (Energy) Vishal Kumar Dev, senior officials of the Energy Department, Government of Odisha, and members of the Commission.

The induction of Barpanda into the regulatory body is expected to further strengthen the functioning of the OERC, which plays a crucial role in overseeing and regulating Odisha’s power sector. The Commission is responsible for key functions including electricity tariff determination, licensing, consumer protection, promotion of competition, operational efficiency, and integration of renewable energy into the power grid.

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by senior officials from the Energy Department and leading power sector organizations, including Odisha Hydro Power Corporation (OHPC), GRIDCO, Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL), and OERC, along with representatives of various power utilities operating in the state.
