
Imphal, 10 June (HS): Security forces in Manipur have intensified their operations against insurgent groups, leading to the arrest of two active militants and the recovery of a large cache of arms, ammunition and explosives from different parts of the state.
According to the Manipur Police Headquarters, a joint search operation conducted on June 9 in the Aigejang area under Chakpikarong Police Station in Chandel district resulted in the recovery of several weapons and explosive materials. The seized items included a .22 rifle, a locally made 9 mm pistol with magazine, five locally manufactured CMGs, four locally made lathode guns, 1.2 kg of explosive substance and three Baofeng radio sets.
On the same day, security personnel arrested an active member of the KCP (Taibangnganba) faction, identified as Haobijam Haridas Singh alias Khongnang (43), from near the JNIMS main gate in Porompat under Porompat Police Station in Imphal East district.
In a separate operation conducted, security forces apprehended an active member of the KYKL outfit, identified as Khoirakpam James Singh (28), from the Border Pillar 76 area under Moreh Police Station in Tengnoupal district.
Police have registered separate cases in connection with both incidents, and further legal proceedings are underway. Security agencies stated that operations against insurgent groups will continue to ensure peace and maintain law and order across the state.----------
